Toronto's housing market just had a record year for sales, with prices surging almost 10%

It was the second best December ever for Toronto existing home sales, icing on the cake in a year in which the annual sales record was broken in November.

The Toronto Real Estate Board said Wednesday that sales reached 4,945 in December, pushing TREB's annual figure past 100,000 for the first time. The final tally for 2015 was 101,299 transactions, a 9.2 per cent increase from a year ago.

Bay Street more concerned by household debt than home prices

Canada's top money managers are concerned by record household debt levels across the country, according to an informal BNN survey -- yet few Bay Street veterans are bothered by rising home prices.

More than four dozen Canadian investment executives provided their views on several year-end topics through an online poll in mid-December. Nearly two thirds of respondents (63 per cent) said they were concerned about rising household debt levels in Canada, while roughly one third (37 per cent) said they were not.

Record Sales in November 2015

TORONTO, December 3, 2015 - Toronto Real Estate Board President Mark McLean announced that Greater Toronto Area REALTORS® reported 7,385 home sales through TREB's MLS® System in November 2015 - up by 14 per cent compared to November 2014. This result also represented the best result on record for the month of November. Sales through the first eleven months of 2015 amounted to 96,401.
